Teletextile: Artemisia - COVID Care Package by Pamela Martinez

Creating a Touchless Healing Journey at S.M.A.R.T. (Supporting Multiple Arts Resources Together) in the Southtown Arts District.

This Fall, artist Pamela Martinez, recipient of the 2020 Luminaria Artist Foundation Grant in the Performing Arts category, debuts Teletextile: Artemisia, a series of immersive performances inspired by the healing power of nature, the big open sky of Texas, and the iconic San Antonio River.  The first performance in the Artemisia series will be COVID Care Package, a touchless healing experience for the San Antonio community. Individuals will have the opportunity to learn about healing plants, pick up a small COVID self-care package and do an optional 10-minute reiki healing ritual outdoors. COVID Care Package will take place September 18 & 19, 2020 outdoors at S.M.A.R.T. of the 1906 Art Complex,1906 S. Flores St., San Antonio, TX, 78204. All activities will be touchless, outdoors, socially distanced, and for mask-wearing participants only. Admission is free. Those who wish to participate MUST schedule a ten minute appointment between the hours of 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm via this link http://bit.ly/TeletextileArtemisia. COVID Care Packages spots are limited to 90.

Teletextile: Artemisia is part of a cumulative project that will culminate in the final performance Teletextile: Estafiate. The overall concept of this performance series is to give people resources and ideas to help them through this intensely transformative time of stress, sickness, and loss while previewing a composition of music-centered theater in progress for Luminaria. The immersive theater Pamela Martinez creates and the music she composes are integral elements of her personal healing journey. Her desire is to pass on these healing elements to others through performance. Teletextile hosts monthly online sound bath meditations via Facebook LIVE and Instagram Live from Mercury Project Contemporary Art Space. The Online Sound Bath Sept 20, 2020 will be a plant-inspired meditation as a continuum of COVID Care Package. These online sound baths are free and open to all but donations are accepted via Venmo @teletextile.
